Christmas Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    20 diced peeled ripe cucumbers
    1 c. salt
    6 large red sweet peppers, seeded and cut in strips
    6 large sweet green peppers, seeded and cut in strips
    8 c. diced celery
    4 medium onions, diced
    10 c. sugar
    2 qt. vinegar
    4 tsp. mustard seed
    2 c. water
Preparation
    Sprinkle cucumbers with salt; let stand overnight.
    Drain. Add remaining vegetables, sugar, vinegar, mustard seed and water. Heat to boiling; reduce heat.
    Cook slowly until cucumbers look transparent.
    Ladle into jars.
    Process in hot water bath 5 minutes.
