Chocolate Top Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    2 eggs
    2 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    2 c. applesauce
    1 c. chocolate chips
    1/2 c. finely chopped pecans
    3 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation
    Cream sugar and shortening; add eggs one at a time and vanilla.
    Stir together flour, salt, soda and cocoa.
    Add flour mixture alternating to the creamed mixture with the applesauce. Pour into a greased and floured 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Sprinkle chocolate chips, nuts and sugar over top.
    Bake 35 minutes in a 350\u00b0 oven.
