Butterscotch Pie Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. cream
    1/2 whole milk
    1 c. brown sugar (press sugar in measuring cup)
    4 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/8 tsp. salt
    3 large eggs, separated (put whites into dish for icing)
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Combine sugar, salt and cornstarch. Stir with whisk. Stir both milks together and add half to sugar mixture. Microwave 3 minutes. Add 3 egg yolks to the remaining milk and stir until smooth. When first mixture comes out of microwave, stir well. Add the rest of milk to it and stir good. Microwave another 3 minutes. Take out and stir. If it is not thick enough, put back in microwave about 1 minute or if it is too thick, add a small amount of whole milk to it. Add butter and vanilla. Stir until smooth. Pour into pie shell. Let set while you make icing.
