Pecan Brittle(An Old Favorite) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. chopped nuts (pecans or walnuts)
    2 c. sugar
    1/8 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Sprinkle nuts
    over buttered shallow pan.
    Put sugar in heavy iron
    pan
    and
    melt
    very
    slowly, stirring constantly. When syrup is
    a golden color, remove quickly and add salt and soda. Pour thin layer over nuts.
    Break in pieces when cool.
