Spiced Apple Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 c. sugar
    2 c. water
    1 c. vinegar
    6 cinnamon sticks, broken
    2 tsp. cloves (whole)
    1/3 (1 oz.) bottle red food coloring
Preparation
    Cook into syrup.
    Drop enough apples to fill jar.
    Cook until tender.
    Pack in jars.
    Add hot syrup to 1/2 inch from top.
    Seal. Makes enough syrup for six pints.
