Fried Apples - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    apples
    1/2 stick margarine or butter
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    dash of salt
Preparation
Use early or green tart apples.
Core and peel, then cut into medium sized hunks into a large frying pan.
Add at least 1/2 stick margarine or butter and about 1 1/2 cups sugar.
Add just a \"dash\" of salt.
Cook slowly over low heat, stirring frequently with a wooden spoon.
    Keep tasting until desired sweetness.
Add more butter if it seems dry.
The butter makes it rich tasting and takes it out of the applesauce category.
Do not overcook and leave it rather chunky.
    Serve warm.
Leftovers can be reheated in the microwave.
