Apricot Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/4 tsp. baking powder
    1 1/3 c. shredded coconut
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    1 (12 oz.) apricot preserves (other flavors may be substitueed)
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg
Preparation
    In a large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar.
    Add egg; mix well.
    In separate bowl, combine flour and baking powder. Gradually add to butter mixture.
    Add coconut, walnuts and vanilla; mix thoroughly.
    Press two-thirds of dough into a greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
    Spread preserves; crumble remaining dough over preserves.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes or until golden brown.
    Cool, cut into squares and serve.
    Yields 36 bars.
