Homemade Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 chicken fryer
    1 stick butter (optional)
    8 c. water
    3 c. flour
    1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 c. milk
    1 egg
    1 stick butter
Preparation
    Boil fryer until done; debone if prefer so.
    Mix flour, soda, salt, milk, egg and butter.
    Roll out and cut into small squares. Drop dough squares into boiling broth (drop a few at a time to prevent them sticking together).
    Mix 2 heaping tablespoons flour with 2 cups milk and add to pot.
    Stir gently.
    Cover and let set 10 to 15 minutes.
