Christine'S Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    fresh cucumbers
    alum
    dill
    green peppers
    hot peppers
    garlic
    onion
    grape leaves
    6 c. water
    2 c. vinegar
    1/2 c. canning salt
Preparation
    Pack clean cucumbers into jars with a sprig of dill, a slice of onion, a wedge of green pepper, hot pepper, several buds of garlic and grape leaves.
    Add 1/4 teaspoon of alum into each jar. Mix the water, vinegar and salt well.
    Pour brine over pickles and process in a water bath until the pickles start to turn color.
    Be sure they are hot as the jars seal better.
