Apple Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    2 c. water
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 c. butter
    5 apples
    2 c. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. lard
    1/2 to 2/3 c. milk
Preparation
    Mix sugar, cinnamon, water and nutmeg and boil 1 minute. Stir in butter. Peel and slice apples. Sift flour, salt and baking powder. Cut in lard with fork and add milk. Stir until moistened. Roll and cut in 6 squares. Place few apples on each square and sprinkle with sugar and nutmeg.
    Dot with butter. Seal edges. Place in oiled pan and pour syrup over dumplings. Bake at 375\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Serve hot.
