English Butter Toffee - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    1 c. (2 sticks) unsalted butter
    1/4 c. water
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 oz. milk chocolate chips
    4 oz. sweet cooking chocolate
    1/4 c. finely chopped toasted pecans
Preparation
    Butter a 10 x 15-inch baking sheet.
    Combine sugar, butter and salt in a saucepan.
    Place over medium heat and bring to a boil, stirring, until sugar dissolves.
    Continue boiling, shaking pan occasionally until thermometer reads 305\u00b0.
    Remove from heat; stir in vanilla.
    Pour onto sheet.
    Let stand until cool and hard.
