Potatoes With Cheese And Apple Slices - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    salted water
    1 lb. peeled potatoes, diced
    3/4 c. grated cheese
    1 1/2 c. elbow macaroni
    2 Tbsp. margarine or butter
    2 onions, sliced
    1 piece chopped garlic
    1/4 c. milk
    1/4 c. heavy cream
    salt to taste
Preparation
    Bring the water to a boil with the potatoes.
    Add the macaroni and cook until done.
    Drain.
    Arrange in layers in au gratin form, adding cheese to each layer.
    Place in a preheated 240\u00b0 C oven until cheese has melted.
    Melt the butter in frying pan.
    Add onion and garlic until light brown.
    Pour over the potato-macaroni dish. Using the same frying pan, bring the milk, heavy cream and salt to taste to a boil.
    Pour over mixture.
