A Nutty Cake For Nutty People - cooking recipe

1 box yellow cake mix (with pudding)
1 can fruit cocktail
2 c. chopped pecans
16 oz. Cool Whip
3 eggs
1/3 c. oil
Preparation

Drain fruit cocktail juice in a cup and save. Mix cake mix according to directions, but omitting the water and using the cocktail juice. The mix calls for 1 cup of water but my juice was about 2/3 cup and was fine. After mixing the batter thoroughly, fold in the fruit cocktail and 1 cup of chopped pecans. Pour into a 9 x 13 pan or dish and cook per directions, about 40 minutes. When you remove from the oven, spread about 4 ounces of Cool Whip on top of hot cake and let melt and soak in. After it is cooled, spread 12 ounces of Cool Whip on top of cake and then cover with the other cup of chopped pecans.
