Chow Chow Relish - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. chopped cabbage
    2 c. chopped onions
    2 c. chopped green sweet peppers
    2 c. chopped green tomatoes
    1/2 c. salt
    3/4 c. sugar
    3 Tbsp. mustard seed
    4 c. vinegar
Preparation
    Wash and drain vegetables.
    Peel onions; remove seeds from peppers.
    Chop and measure all vegetables.
    Dissolve salt in 8 cups of water; pour over vegetables.
    Let stand 1 hour.
    Drain; if too salty, rinse and drain vegetables again.
    Mix vegetables with sugar, mustard seed and vinegar.
    Simmer 20 minutes; then bring to boiling.
    Pack boiling hot into hot jars; seal at once.
    Makes about 4 pints.
