Batter Fried Onion Rings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/8 tsp. pepper
    2 egg yolks
    2/3 c. beer
    2 Tbsp. oil
    3 to 4 large Spanish onions
    2 egg whites
Preparation
    Sift flour, salt and pepper into bowl. Beat together egg yolks, beer and oil.
    Add to flour mixture, stirring only until smooth.
    Let stand for 1 hour. Slice onion 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick and separate into rings.
    Beat egg whites until stiff but not dry and fold into batter.
    Dip onions in batter, coating them thoroughly.
    Heat oil (2-inches deep) and fry onions, without crowding, until brown on both sides. Drain.
