Velvet Crumb Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups Bisquick baking mix
1/2 cup sugar
1 egg
1/2 cup milk or water
2 Tbsp. shortening
1 tsp. vanilla
Broiled Topping

Preparation

Heat oven to 350. Grease and flour square pan, 8 x 8 x 2 inches or 9 inch round pan. Beat all ingredients except topping on low speed, scrapping bowl constantly, 30 seconds. Beat on medium speed, scraping bowl occasionally, 4 minutes. Pour into pan. Bake until wooden pick inserted in middle comes out clean, 30-35 minutes. Cool slightly, spread with topping. Set oven control to broil and/or 550\u00b0. Broil about 3 inches from heat until golden brown, about 3 minutes.
