Potato Pancakes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large potatoes
    1/2 medium onion, finely chopped
    1 egg, slightly beaten
    2 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
Preparation
    Grate potatoes; drain off liquid.
    Add chopped onion, egg, flour, salt and pepper.
    Drop by tablespoonful into 1/4 inch of hot shortening in skillet.
    Pan-fry about 3 minutes on each side; turn only when well browned.
    Yields 12 pancakes.
