Ginger Raisin Crinkle Tops - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. shortening
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg, beaten
    4 Tbsp. dark molasses
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 level tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. ginger
    1 tsp. ground cloves
    2 c. flour
    1 c. raisins
Preparation
    Cream together shortening, sugar and egg until smooth. Add molasses and blend. Mix together remaining dry ingredients and combine with wet mixture. Form into walnut-sized balls and roll them in granulated sugar before placing them on an ungreased cookie sheet. Allow room for the cookie to spread. Bake for 8-10 minutes at 350 degrees, being careful not to overbake. (I do them for 10 minutes; they will not be chewy if overbaked.)
