Buttermilk Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. sugar
    1/2 c. buttermilk
    1/2 c. milk
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    3 Tbsp. butter
    2 c. pecans
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    In a pot, combine all ingredients, except pecans and vanilla. Cook mixture over low heat until it forms soft ball.
    Remove from heat.
    Let stand 5 minutes.
    Beat well until mixture begins to thicken.
    Stir in vanilla and pecans, using a teaspoon to form individual pralines on wax paper.
    Let stand to cool.
    Yield: 3 1/2 dozen.
