14 Day Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 gal. cucumbers
    2 c. salt
    1 gal. boiling water
    1 Tbsp. alum
    5 pt. vinegar
    6 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. pickling spice
    1 tsp. turmeric
Preparation
    Put the cucumbers into a stone jar, washed and sliced. Dissolve salt in the boiling water and pour over the cucumbers. Cover and pour 1 gallon boiling water.
    Weight down.
    Let stand 1 week.
