Icebox Rolls - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pkg. dry yeast
    1/2 c. lukewarm water
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 c. shortening
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1 well beaten egg
    2 c. lukewarm water
    4 to 6 c. flour
Preparation
    Mix yeast, 1/2 cup water and 1 teaspoon sugar; let stand 1/2 hour.
    Mix shortening and remaining sugar together.
    Add salt and egg; mix well.
    Add 2 cups lukewarm water and yeast mixture. Stiffen with flour and knead.
    Let rise.
    Shape into rolls.
    Can be kept in refrigerator for 2 weeks.
