Apple Pandowdy - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. sliced apples
    1/4 tsp. cinnamon
    1/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
    1/4 tsp. nutmeg
    1/4 c. butter or margarine
    1/3 c. granulated sugar
    1 egg
    3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
    3/4 tsp. baking soda
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/3 c. milk
    cream or low-fat Cool Whip
Preparation
    Put apples in 1-quart baking dish. Sprinkle with brown sugar and spices. Bake in preheated 375\u00b0 oven for 30 minutes or until apples are soft. Cream butter. Gradually add granulated sugar and beat until fluffy. Add egg and beat well. Add sifted ingredients, alternating with milk, beating until smooth. Spread on cooked apples. Bake for 30 minutes. Serve warm with cream or low-fat Cool Whip. Makes 4 servings.
