Oatmeal Crisp Cookies - cooking recipe

1 c. shortening
1 egg, beaten
1 c. brown sugar
1 1/4 c. oatmeal
1/2 c. crushed corn flakes
1 1/2 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. soda
1 tsp. vanilla
3/4 c. chopped nutmeats
1/2 lb. Judges 5:25 (butter)
2 c. Jeremiah 6:26 (sugar)
1/2 doz. Jeremiah 17:11 (eggs)
3 1/2 c. 1 Kings 4:22 (flour)
pinch of Leviticus 2:13 (salt; 1 tsp.)
2 tsp. Amos 4:5 (baking powder)
1 1/2 c. Judges 4:19 (milk)
2 c. 1 Samuel 30:12 (raisins)
2 c. Nahum 3:12 (figs)
2 c. Numbers 17:8 (almonds or chopped pecans)
2 tsp. 1 Samuel 14:25 (honey)
2 Chronicles 9:9 (spice to taste)
Preparation

Combine the butter, sugar and eggs.
Sift together the flour, salt and baking powder.
Add alternately the milk.
Fold in the raisins, figs, almonds or pecans, honey and spice to taste.
See Proverbs 23:14 and beat well.
Bake 1 1/2 hours in moderate oven at 375\u00b0 for 30 minutes, then at 300\u00b0.
