Ingredients

8 slices French bread, cut 3/4 to 1-inch thick
grated peel of 1 large orange
2/3 c. orange juice
6 eggs
1/3 c. orange liqueur
1 c. half and half
3 Tbsp. granulated sugar
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter, cut in small pieces (optional)
confectioners sugar
Preparation

Butter a 9-inch square pan.
Lay bread slices evenly in pan. Combine orange peel, orange juice, eggs, liqueur, half and half and granulated sugar.
Pour over bread.
Dot with butter if desired.
Refrigerate.
