Verdas - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dry split peas (either green or yellow)
    1 medium onion, chopped
    2 garlic cloves, minced or pressed
    1 green jalapeno chili, minced*
    1/4 c. frozen green peas
    1 tsp. salt or to taste
    1/4 tsp. red pepper (optional)
Preparation
    Soak split peas overnight in enough water to cover.
    Place the soaked peas in a blender or food processor and grind to form a coarse paste.
    Add water sparingly when needed.
    Pour paste in bowl.
    Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
