Caramel - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    dash salt
    1 c. white Karo
    1 stick butter or margarine
    2 c. heavy cream
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cook sugar, Karo and butter until thick and clear.
    Very slowly, add cream, stirring constantly; cook to firm ball stage (without stirring) then add vanilla, nuts and salt.
