Pepper Steaks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. beef sirloin or round, cut in cubes
    2 tsp. shortening
    1/4 c. soy sauce
    1 1/2 c. water
    2 medium onions, cut in strips lengthwise
    2 bell peppers, cut in strips
    2 tsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Wash and pare medium potatoes.
    Make a hole through each with an apple corer and force a link sausage or two (depending on size) into each cavity.
    Place potatoes in baking dish and bake in oven at 425\u00b0 for 45 minutes or until tender, basting with sausage drippings several times during baking.
    A slice of bacon can be placed over each potato, if desired.
