Chocolate Chip Torte - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 3/4 c. flour
    2 Tbsp. cocoa
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. dates, chopped fine
    1 c. boiling water
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 c. butter
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts
    1 (6 oz.) pkg. chocolate chips
Preparation
    Add together dates, boiling water and soda.
    Sift flour, cocoa and salt.
    Cream shortening and sugar; beat until fluffy.
    Add eggs alternately.
    Add flour and date mixture, blending well after each addition.
    Add vanilla.
    Spread in greased 13 x 9 1/2-inch pan.
    Sprinkle with nuts and chocolate chips on top of cake.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 45 minutes.
    Cool.
