Sour Cream Fudge - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 c. commercial sour cream
    2 Tbsp. butter or margarine
    1/2 c. broken pecans or other nuts
Preparation
    Combine sugar, salt
    and sour cream in saucepan.
    Cook, stirring occasionally, until a
    little
    dropped in cup of cold water
    forms soft ball
    or
    236\u00b0
    on
    candy
    thermometer.
    Add butter or margarine.
    Let
    cool
    at
    room temperature, without stirring, until lukewarm
    (110\u00b0).
    Beat
    until
    mixture
    loses gloss, then add nuts.
    Spread
    in
    buttered 8-inch square pan. When firm, cut into squares.
    Makes about 24 pieces.
    Nuts may be substituted with shredded or flaked coconut.
    Or use puffed rice cereal in place of nuts.
