Dinner Party Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. lean beef chuck, cut into thin strips (2-inches long) or cubes
    3 Tbsp. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    dash of pepper
    3 medium onions, sliced
    3 Tbsp. fat
    1/2 c. tomato juice
    1 3/4 c. meat stock
    1 tsp. sugar
    1/2 c. sour cream
    1 small can mushrooms (optional)
    1 1/4 lb. stewing meat, trimmed of fat and membrane
    1 1/2 c. hot water
    2 onions, peeled
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 lb. peanut butter
    1/2 tsp. dried red pepper
    1/2 can tomatoes
    1/2 doz. hard-boiled eggs, chopped
Preparation
    In a large kettle, place 1-inch square cube of meat and 1 1/2 cups hot water.
    Add onions and salt.
    Stew over moderate heat, letting meat brown as water evaporates, then add water to cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
    Mix peanut butter and hot broth.
    Stir until smooth paste.
    Add gradually to meat to keep sauce smooth. Add pepper, tomatoes and onions and chopped eggs.
    Boil about 20 minutes, then simmer 45 minutes or until meat is very tender. Serve over rice with side dishes of sliced orange, banana (sprinkled with lemon juice), chopped tomatoes, chopped green pepper, sliced cucumber, diced pineapple and diced papaya.
