Carbonades A La Flammande - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 lb. lean beef, cut into 1/2-inch slices
    2 lb. large onions, thickly sliced
    1/2 c. flour
    1/2 c. cooking oil
    6 cloves garlic, crushed or 2 tsp. ground
    3 tsp. brown sugar
    1/4 c. red wine vinegar
    1/2 c. chopped parsley
    2 bay leaves
    2 tsp. thyme leaves
    1 Tbsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    1 can beef consomme
    2 bottles beer
Preparation
    Dredge meat in flour and brown in hot oil.
