Mom'S Foolproof Divinity - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. red corn syrup
    2 1/2 c. sugar
    1/4 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. water
    2 egg whites
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Mix syrup, sugar, salt and water in a large saucepan.
    Cook without stirring to 248\u00b0 on candy thermometer.
    Beat egg whites until stiff.
    Slowly pour half of hot syrup mixture into egg whites while beating at top speed.
    Reduce the mixer speed to slow.
    Return syrup mixture to heat, cook to 272\u00b0. Pour syrup over the whites and beat at top speed until it begins to hold shape. Add vanilla and pecans.
    Drop by teaspoon dipped in water.
