Rocks - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. shortening
    2 c. brown sugar
    3 beaten eggs
    1 lb. raisins
    1 lb. nuts
    1 lb. dates, cut up
    1 tsp. soda
    3/4 c. hot water
    2 1/2 c. flour (enough to make drop cookie dough)
Preparation
    Cream shortening and brown sugar; add eggs, then add raisins, nuts and dates (cut up).
    Add soda dissolved in the hot water and the flour.
    Drop cookies on cookie sheet.
    Bake in hot oven at about 400\u00b0 until brown.
