Seven Layer Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 head shredded lettuce
    1 c. chopped green pepper
    1/2 onion, chopped
    3/4 c. chopped celery
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen peas, uncooked or 1 can LeSueur peas, drained
    1 c. Hellmann's mayonnaise (brand is important)
    1 1/2 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. medium or sharp Cheddar cheese, grated
    4 slices bacon, cooked crisp
Preparation
    Layer lettuce, pepper, onion, celery and peas.
    Spread mayonnaise over this.
    Then sprinkle sugar.
    Sprinkle cheese and then crumble bacon.
    Cover with Saran Wrap for 24 hours.
    Keeps well for several days.
