Doughnuts - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    2 Tbsp. shortening (butter)
    2 eggs
    3 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. soda
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    3/4 c. buttermilk
    1 tsp. nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter (blender works well for this).
    Sift together dry ingredients (flour, salt, baking powder, soda and spices).
    Add the eggs and vanilla to sugar and butter mixture. Add the dry ingredients alternately with the buttermilk, beginning and ending with the flour mixture.
    Chill dough for several hours or overnight; roll out.
    Cut and place on floured cookie sheets. Let stand for 15 minutes.
    Fry in deep fat until brown.
    Turn twice.
    May need a little more flour.
