Mardi Gras Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2/3 c. butterscotch morsels
    1/4 c. boiling water
    2 1/4 c. all-purpose flour
    1 tsp. soda
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. granulated sugar
    1/4 c. light brown sugar
    1/2 c. Snowdrift or Crisco shortening
    3 eggs
    1 c. buttermilk
Preparation
    Melt butterscotch morsels in boiling water.
    Cool.
    Cream shortening.
    Add sugars gradually.
    Add eggs, one at a time.
    Add melted butterscotch morsels, salt and vanilla.
    Add flour and buttermilk alternately (add soda and baking powder to last 1/4 cup of flour).
    Bake in two 9-inch layer pans at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes. Put filling between layers and on top.
    Frost with Seafoam Frosting when cool.
