Sausage Surprise - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lb. smoked sausage, cut in 3/4-inch slices
    1 large onion, chopped
    1 medium cabbage, cut in small chunks
    1/2 c. water
    1 lb. carrots
    5 medium potatoes, peeled and cut in cubes
Preparation
    Brown sausage and drain (reserve 1 tablespoon of drippings). Saute onion in reserved drippings 3 to 5 minutes. Add sausage, cabbage, carrots
    and water.
    Cover and cook over low heat 10 minutes. Stir in potatoes.
    Cover and cook an additional 20 minutes or until vegetables are tender.
