Don'S Favorite Scottish Mince - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
    beef broth (your own) * or 1 can bouillon
    1 can water with/or instead of bouillon
    1 medium onion, chopped
    salt and pepper to taste
    1/2 tsp. thyme
    handful of dry oatmeal (instant rolled oats)
Preparation
    Brown ground beef in skillet or heavy pot and drain fat.
    Add broth or water to cover.
    Add onion and seasonings.
    Cover and simmer for 1 1/2 hours, adding water if needed.
    When cooked, add a handful of oatmeal to thicken mixture slightly.
    Serve over mashed potatoes.
