Ingredients

2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 well beaten eggs
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. flour
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1 c. coconut or chopped nuts
Preparation

Cream shortening and sugar.
Add eggs, mix well; add vanilla. Sift flour with baking soda and cream of tartar.
Add to first mixture, add coconut; Mix thoroughly.
Form into rolls 2-inches in diameter.
Chill overnight or up to 2 weeks.
Cut in thin slices. Place on greased baking sheet.
Bake at 350\u00b0 about 10 minutes.
