Pear Honey Preserves - cooking recipe

8 ripe pears, peeled, quartered and cored
4 c. sugar
1 (15 1/4 oz.) can crushed pineapple, drained
Preparation

Position knife blade in food processor bowl.
Add pears; cover with lid.
Process until finely chopped, not pureed. Measure pears to equal 4 cups.
Combine pears and sugar in a heavy saucepan; bring mixture slowly to a boil and cook, stirring frequently, until sugar dissolves.
Reduce heat and simmer 45 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add pineapple; cook an additional 5 minutes.
Spoon mixture into hot sterilized jars, leaving 1/4-inch head space; wipe jar rims.
Cover at once with metal lids and screw on bands.
Process jars in boiling water bath 10 minutes. Yield: 6 half pints.
