Tomato Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 pt. tomatoes (fresh or canned), chopped fine
    enough salt to taste
    diced onion (for flavor)
    green peppers (hot and sweet)
    2 tsp. vinegar
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    dash of allspice and black pepper
    shortening
    flour
Preparation
    Prepare shortening and flour in frying pan as for gravy.
    Add onion, peppers, allspice, black pepper, sugar and vinegar (vinegar can be substituted with juice from sweet pickles which gives a good flavor).
    Into this mixture, pour tomatoes and let simmer (not boil) for 30 minutes.
    This is good with vegetables or meats.
