Sopapillas(Fried Biscuit Puffs) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. flour
    1 Tbsp. baking powder
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    2/3 c. warm water
    fat for frying
    honey or sugar and cinnamon
Preparation
    Stir together the flour, baking powder and salt.
    Cut in shortening until mixture resembles cornmeal.
    Gradually add the water, stirring with a fork.
    Dough will be crumbly.
    Turn onto floured surface.
    Knead into smooth ball.
    Divide in half and let stand 10 minutes.
    Roll each half into a 12 1/2 x 10-inch rectangle.
    Cut into 2 1/2-inch squares (do not reroll or patch dough).
    Fry a few at a time in hot fat until golden.
    Drain on paper towels.
    Serve with honey or roll in sugar and cinnamon. Makes 40.
