Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. Redbow split peas
    2 1/2 qt. cold water or water from vegetables
    1 large carrot, grated
    2 medium sized potatoes, grated
    1 onion, grated
    1 tsp. celery salt
    1/2 tsp. black pepper
    1 tsp. salt
    1/2 lb. frankfurters, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
Preparation
    Wash split peas thoroughly. Add water; cover kettle and bring to a boil. Add the grated carrot, potatoes, onion and seasonings. Simmer about 2 hours or until split peas are tender. Strain; reheat. Add frankfurters and simmer about 10 minutes. Serves 6.
