Yam And Apple Casserole - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (30 oz.) can candied yams
    4 medium size cooking apples
    1 c. yam syrup
    1 1/2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. brown sugar
    1/4 c. margarine
    1/2 tsp. nutmeg
    1/2 tsp. cinnamon
    1/2 tsp. brandy extract
    3 Tbsp. chopped pecans
Preparation
    Drain yams (save 1 cup of syrup); slice yams.
    Peel, core and slice apples.
    Butter a large casserole (about 4 quart size) and arrange apples and yams in layers.
