Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. raw shelled peanuts
    1/2 c. Karo (white) syrup
    1/2 c. water
    pinch of paraffin
    2 heaping tsp. soda
    1 tsp. salt
    1 1/2 c. sugar
Preparation
Bring Karo, water and sugar to boil; add paraffin and peanuts and cook until peanuts turn amber in color (or until peanuts look parched).
Stir with wooden spoon often, while cooking in a black skillet.
Remove from stove and fold in soda and salt (which have been mixed together and lumps mashed).
    Pour out on greased marble.
Before it gets too cool, mark with butcher knife into pieces.
Store in glass jars or containers.
Do not refrigerate. Makes at least two quarts of candy.
