Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

25 to 30 medium size cucumbers, sliced thin
8 large white onions, chopped
2 large bell peppers, chopped
1/2 c. salt
5 c. cider vinegar
5 c. sugar
2 Tbsp. mustard seed
1 tsp. turmeric
1/2 tsp. cloves
Preparation

Combine cucumbers, onion, bell pepper and salt and cover with water.
Put plate on top to hold the cucumbers down.
Let stand 3 hours, then drain.
Combine vinegar, sugar and spices in large preserving kettle.
Bring to a boil.
Add drained vegetables to liquid mixture.
Heat thoroughly, but do not bring to a boil. Pack while hot into sterilized jars and seal.
