Ingredients

1 c. sugar
1 c. Karo syrup (dark)
4 tsp. baking soda
Preparation

Combine sugar and Karo syrup in a large saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Bring to a hard crack stage (305\u00b0) and remove from heat. Quickly stir in baking soda. Mix well (volume will triple in size).
Pour into a lightly buttered shallow 9 x 13-inch pan.
Cool and break into pieces.
