Garden Salad With Almonds And Oranges - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head iceberg lettuce
    1 head romaine lettuce
    1 c. slivered almonds
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. vegetable oil
    1/4 c. vinegar
    1 tsp. salt
    1 Tbsp. parsley flakes
    dash of black pepper
    dash of red pepper
    6 green onion tops, sliced thin
    1 (22 oz.) can mandarin oranges, drained and chilled
Preparation
    Wash and tear lettuce into bite-size pieces (refrigerate). Combine almonds and 1/4 cup sugar in saucepan, stirring over medium heat until sugar browns.
    Cool caramelized almonds on an ungreased cookie sheet.
    Break into tiny pieces and set aside.
