Swiss Steak - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 lbs round steak, sliced thin and cut in serving size pieces
    1 large onion, cut in 1/4 inch slices
    1 can (approx 12 ounces) diced tomatoes
    1/4 to 1/2 cup of oil
    1 cup self rising flour
    salt and pepper to taste
Preparation
    Put flour, salt and pepper in plastic bag, add steak and shake up until coated with flour mixture. Heat oil in large skillet.
    Brown coated steak in hot oil.
    Place sliced onion on top of meat, pour tomatoes over the top and simmer over low heat until onions and meat are tender. If gravy gets too thick, add a little hot water as needed.
    Serve with mashed potatoes.
