Fastnaughts (Shrove Cakes) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 c. flour (plain)
    1/2 c. sugar
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    4 eggs
    3 Tbsp. shortening
    3/4 c. milk
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients and add shortening and eggs.
    Add milk. Put on board and knead a little.
    Roll out, not quite as thin as pie crust.
    Cut in squares and make a small slit in the middle. Fry in deep fat.
    Sprinkle with powdered sugar.
